As clients engage our company by way of email only our estimator must be able to check projects to see how viable they are. This includes due diligence of a prospective client, location of project and suppliers, access for deliveries, identifying potential hazards and complexity of projects.
Read and understand geotechnical reports.
Calculate and quantify beams and pads for excavation and removal of spoil. Have an understanding of soil classifications and bearing pressures.
Take measurements from feature surveys to calculate site cut quantities.
It would be advantageous if the candidate has an understanding of retention systems including piling, capping beams, ground anchors and Shotcrete.
Interpret from structural, architectural and post tension plans the steel quantity tonnage. Schedule steel reinforcement including ligatures, cog bars, z bars and have a clear understanding of post tension top and bottom steel reinforcement.
Interpret from structural, architectural plans a BOQ (bill of quantities) to quantify formwork areas including bondeck, conventional ply soffit, slab folds, step downs, edgeform, deepened rebates, columns and walls and must be competent in RL heights and measurements. The candidate would likely have experience in setting out H frames and propping designs and have understanding of load ratings and soffit heights.
Be able to read shop drawings to measure exact lengths of bondeck on steel structures.
Concrete and Concrete Placement
Interpret from structural, architectural, finishing schedules and post tension plans a BOQ (bill of quantities) to quantify the volume of concrete and specified mix designs including strength, shrinkage and breaking strains.
Understand the use of admixtures and wastage factors across in ground and suspended slabs. Have an understanding of concrete finishes in both structural and decorative concrete.
The candidate must be able process and quantify scope of works and variations to contract.
It is imperative that the candidate would have both excellent written and spoken English skills as they would be an interface to our company and our clients. He or she should also have strong negotiation skills for contract closing and sub contractor engagement.
